Search guru John Battelle is reporting that Google is about to release a dedicated blog search engine. It will come in two flavors, one for searching Blogger blogs and the other for blogs at large. Battelle says the service will be arriving at blogsearch.google.com very shortly, but if you’re itching for more information you can read the official FAQ, which describes some interesting features: Firstly, Blog Search seems to crawl RSS and Atom feeds and search results point to individual posts, but if entire blogs match your query they’ll appear in a list at the top. Secondly, in addition to the familiar site:, link:, and intitle: operators, Google’s blog search also adds inblogtitle:, inposttitle:, inpostauthor:, and blogurl:. Lastly, but perhaps most interestingly, you’ll be able to subscribe to Atom feeds for your favorite vanity searches.
Update: Google Blog Search is now live.
